Holly Guard-Mayher

Holly Guard-Mayher DDS was born in Annapolis, grew up in Davidsonville and has lived just over the Bay Bridge in Kent Island with her family for the past 15 years. Holly has three college students that her husband Mark and she is very proud of.

Holly graduated from St. Mary’s High School and started college at UMD College Park, She graduated from the UMD Dental School in Baltimore as a Dental Hygienist in 1990, practiced as a hygienist for several years before going back to UMD for dental school and graduating in 1997. She has worked with her Dad, Dennis Guard DDS for 23 years. He mentored and encouraged her to expand her skills at top programs like The Dawson Academy in Complete Dentistry Certification, The Scope Institute Sleep Apnea & TMD Course and becoming Invisalign certified.

Dennis Guard

Dennis W. Guard DDS FAGD Dr. Dennis Guard is a native Marylander who grew up in Baltimore County. He is a graduate of Catonsville High School, where he excelled in art, history, and the sciences. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland’s accelerated bachelor of science program where he completed the four-year B.S. program in three years. After graduating from the University of Maryland at College Park, Dr. Guard attended the University of Maryland School of Dental Surgery, where he was a member of the Si Omega Dental Fraternity. After four years of dental school, Dr. Guard served as in the Army as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Corp. After his military service, Dr. Guard joined a dental practice in Bethesda, Md. In the late 60s, Dr. Guard relocated to Annapolis, where he has enjoyed a general family-oriented dental practice. Dr. Guard has participated in several CE courses at the prestigious Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a graduate of the Strupp Dental Continuing Education Courses. He is a member of the Annapolis Dental Study Club, and the Western Shore Dental Study Club, as well as the Implant Study Club of Annapolis. Dr. Guards’ interests include his family, the outdoors, art, running, following the U of M Terps.
