The crew of the Schooner Woodwind was carefully selected for their sailing knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. Captain Ken Kaye, a retired teacher, dreamed of owning a schooner to introduce people to sailing. He was able to do this by designing and building the vessel himself. In 1996, he handed over the captaincy of the Woodwind to his daughter Jennifer. In 1998, they added the second schooner, Woodwind II.
The Woodwind II was featured in the popular comedy “Wedding Crashers” in 2005. The ship was used in an iconic scene. Christopher Walken, Owen Wilson, and Vince Vaughn all used the boat during the shoot. The boat even has a scrapbook with photographs from the shoot and pages of the script from the movie.
Schooner Woodwind Sailing Cruises is currently hiring crew for two schooners. Interested applicants should be a skilled sailer and have at least one year’s experience. Additionally, candidates should be proficient with computers and phone skills. Besides being an experienced crew member, they must also be able to work on a team and interact with customers.
